Here are a few quotes that really hit home with how we feel...
"Grief is like an earthquake. The first one hits you and the world falls apart. Even after you put the world together again there are aftershocks, and you never really know when those will come."
"Grief is like the rain. Sometimes it only drizzles, but other times it pours so much you feel like you’re going to drown in it."
"It’s like a cut. At first it hurts so bad, and you bleed for a while. You stop the bleeding, the pain subsides, and you put on a bandage to hide the mark and help it heal faster. You develop a scab, but every once in a while, that scab might break and you’ll bleed again. Once that stops and the pain is gone, you still have a scar. That scar becomes a part of you, and it’s something people will know about. It will stay with you for the rest of your life, as will grief."
But Jim and I grieve with HOPE! It doesn't take the pain of losing Annabelle away but it helps us get through each day, knowing that even though we are grieving right now, we will see her again one day.
It's definitely been like a roller coaster lately because we have more moments here lately that are up moments, happy moments mainly due to our adorable son Isaac and celebrating his first birthday and planning his party and remembering all the wonderful events that took place last year as we adopted him. Those moments really help us get through the day, but then the other part of the roller coaster happens and we have our low moments, our sad ones. The moments where its hard to get through it and you just sit and cry and think about how much we miss our Annabelle and how much I miss being pregnant with her and feeling her move inside of me.
So from the first week, we are better. We praise God for that and He has truly carried us through this, not just walked with us but CARRIED us. Yet, we still are grieving so we still have moments throughout each day it hits us. We are able to do more now though, which shows a small part of the healing process. I remember the first week we didn't care about food, about watching television...well really about anything...nothing seemed to matter. Now this week, i've actually gotten my appetite back some and we are able to watch some television now and again. At first we felt guilty for life moving on without our Annabelle but Isaac has really helped us to just laugh, smile and enjoy the moments we do have with eachother! God has been so gracious and given us so much strength through this.
So please keep praying as we are still grieving and will probably until we see her face again but from what we've heard from others, it will change and it won't be so screamingly loud to us and instead be a whisper. We thank God for eachother and for Isaac and all our supportive family and friends and church family and most of all we are thankful for our Savior and for our salvation. Without Him and without our salvation, we would have no hope but with it, we have HOPE! Praise God!
beautifully stated. You remain in our prayers. There is Hope in Jesus and you two are shining examples of that. Thank you for sharing your story.
