Right after losing Annabelle someone from our church asked if we had any kind of memorial fund set up or organization we were giving to in honor/memory of Annabelle. They mentioned how they wanted to do something but didn't know what to do and that if we ever set it up, to let them know so they could give. It got me thinking about what we would want to do in her name. There are so many things and well, thankfully God just kind of laid it in our laps and we didn't even have to search for it. That night I came home and someone had written on our blog about a friend of theirs who also lost their baby and had this organization called Holden Uganda.
The family who started it, did it in honor of their baby boy they lost. They love the Lord. It helps the country God has laid so strongly on our hearts, which is Uganda and it will help 500-2000 people have fresh water. They build wells in Uganda giving fresh water to those who need it most. After exchanging emails back and forth with them we have decided to officially chose this wonderful ministry and organization for Annabelle's memorial fund. We have chosen to go with this because not only is it a way for people to donate in memory/honor of Annabelle but it saves people's lives, the money will actually go towards something so worthwhile and needed. It brings us such joy that our Annabelle will be able to bring water, life-saving water to hundreds if not thousands of people who desperately need it. The well will be dedicated in her name. They will put her full name, her date she was born and Psalm 139 on the well. Once all the money is raised up, which we need $2,000-$2,400 for her well, they will dig and create the well and take a picture of the finished well with her name and information on it for us.
They like to get each separate well fund raised up in 3-4 months. So that is our goal, if we do not reach the $2,400 mark by 4 months we will then probably just give whatever was donated to the general well list and not be able to have Annabelle's specific well BUT it will still help whatever we can do and give. However, our hope and goal is that we will be able to have the $2,400 donated in enough time so they can dig a well in Annabelle's memory and give water to so many that desperately need it!

Not only is it helping us remember Annabelle's beautiful but short life but we can continue to spread the story of her life by helping give water to those who need it most! Q. "What percentage of my financial gift goes towards building wells?"
A. 100%! Since there is no "middleman", we do not use one cent towards anything other than building wells. We send the funds directly to Dr. Patrick Mutano, who builds them with a team of Ugandan people. ALL extra fees (i.e. postage, internet, website, etc.) are covered by the Erwin and Smith families.
Q. "Is my financial gift tax-deductible?"
A. Yes, all financial gifts are tax-deductible, and we will send you a receipt for the amount you donate.
Q. "If I donate in honor of someone, how do you let them know?"
A. Include their name and address on the payment system, and we will let them know about your thoughtful gift with a Holden Uganda card. If it is for a birthday/anniversary/other special occasion, please make note of that, or email Sarah at sarah@holdenuganda.org, so that she may add the special message on their card.
