So many thoughts run through my head this Christmas...thoughts of thankfulness that this is our first Christmas as a family of three, our first Christmas with Isaac our precious son that God so richly blessed us with. Thoughts of my grandma and grandpa Rose not being with us this year, thoughts of wanting to be over in Uganda giving all the children hugs, kisses and telling them they are beautiful, they are meant to be and that God loves them so...I have much to be thankful for but there is one thing I would REALLY love for Christmas and Susanne from
The Journey said it best...
Things I want for Christmas:
- For the 147 million children with no mommy or daddy to have someone to just rub a hand across their face and tell them how beautiful they are. Maybe even give them a bath or wash their hair.
- Every 15 seconds another child becomes orphaned by AIDS.....love one, serve JUST one.
- Every DAY 5,760 more children become orphans....love one, serve one...JUST ONE.
- Every YEAR 2,102,400 more children become orphans (in Africa alone)...staggering to me....serve just ONE.
- Every DAY 38,493 children AGE OUT of the orphanage...they will be turned out into the streets...with NOTHING....60% of the girls are lured into prostitution,70% of the boys become hardened criminals....love ONE...just one.
We CANNOT ignore those stats...these are LIVES...these are children...THESE ARE GODS CHILDREN...and He cares, rescues, loves and helps them through US...His body! My prayer is that in 2011 more and more, the body of Christ will have a burden more than ever, a passion to be His hands and feet throughout the world and myself included along with everyone else, want to be more willing to do and go wherever He sends us or wants us to do. That He would be able to do His work THROUGH us!
Love,
100% LOVE this list!
ReplyDeleteThose stats just make me sit here and cry. Oh how this must touch God's heart even more. And He is waiting for us to be His hands and His feet.
